Trust – I am honest and helpful and make the right choices.

Respect – I treat others how I would like to be treated.

At Dunbury Academy, we believe that English is an essential part of the curriculum, as it creates successful, empathetic, and creative communicators. Communicating through listening, speaking, reading and writing is key to independently expressing emotions and ideas. Reading is closely intertwined with writing and we know that children who read more, write more, and write more fluently. At Dunbury, we want to build a community of readers, writers and speakers who can make links between their reading, their experiences and potential writing ideas. Through reading in particular, pupils have a chance to develop culturally, empathetically, emotionally, intellectually, socially and spiritually. As a result, children at Dunbury receive a grounding in becoming empathetic, courageous advocates of the world and their communities as they grow up.
